September 2009.
Landmannalaugar is a stunning geothermal area in the highland where you can take a dip in a warm natural geothermal pool and take long or short hikes in the neighborhood. From Landmannalaugar lies a very popular hiking route called Laugavegur (named after the main shopping street in Reykjavik) which lies to Thorsmork and takes 2-3 days to hike. The scenery in Landmannalaugar and on the route to Landmannalaugar is simply stunning and lies close by Hekla, one of Icelands most famous volcanos.
Our tour to Landmannalaugar includes stops in Landmannahellir cave, Ljotipollur crater lake, Landmannalaugar, a short hike to the lava field West of the valley and on our way back we drive to Hekla and have a photoshoot opportunity if the weather allows us to.

I’m not easily impressed but this trip was by far one of the most extraordinary and stunning nature experiences I’ve ever had. It really is beyond description.
All the practicalities were well taken care of by our knowing guide, Svenni, who incidentallly turned out to be great and relaxed company – which actually does matter quite a lot when your spending a long day together.
Oh, and by the way, bring proper clothes. No matter what you expect chances are the wheather will surprise you.
