Here are photos from our tour to the volcano eruption on April 8th. We went on three super jeeps, Land Cruiser 38″ tires, Jeep Cherokee 46″ tires and Izusu Trooper 38″ tires and were joined by a Toyota Tacoma 41″ tires on the glacier. We had a great halibut dinner in Hotel Skogar (thank you Gudrun) before we entered the glacier at Solheimajokull, driving onwards to Myrdalsjokull and Fimmvorduhals. We hit a thick fog right away but thanks to appropriate equipment and experienced drivers we made it safely to the eruption site approx. 2 hours later. We came back to Reykjavik at 3:00 (3 AM), tired but very happy.

On our way back over the glacier, two of the jeeps in our 5 jeep convoy got stuck in the snow and had to be towed loose - not our jeep though : )

Thanks for a thrilling tour. It was even better than expected. The trip to the volcano in the super jeeps was big fun too. Driving on a glacier in very poor visibility trusting on your gps system was quit a new experience!!! When we reached the volcano we were just in awe. We could get so close you could feel the heat. Quite an adrenaline rush i can assure you.
I can surely recommend Sveinn. It was a good organized trip which we will never forget.
